Domestic abuse is taken very seriously in Newham. Hestia provides emotional and practical support to those experiencing domestic abuse in Newham and wider communities. Nobody should live their life in fear of physical, financial, sexual or emotional abuse.

What services do we offer in Newham?

• Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) - offer support to individuals and families identified as being at significant risk of harm

• Domestic and Sexual Abuse caseworkers

• FGM Support Workers includes advocacy services for adults and children, supporting maternal care in hospitals, offering casework support and FGM prevention advocacy training to professionals and communities

• The co-ordination of MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference) offering a partnership response to addressing the safety of all high-risk survivors and taking action against those who abuse

• Domestic and Sexual Violence Peer Support Group

• The Alessia Project (supporting those who sell sex, are sexually exploited or trafficked)

The Alessia Project

The Alessia Project is a commissioned independent service dedicated to supporting those who sell sex, who are sexually exploited or trafficked in Newham. This service is available for those aged 16+ and welcomes both self-referrals and those referred externally. The projects aim is to empower and support people to make informed choices about their lives. We promote a multi-agency working approach and our ethos are in line with ‘Violence against Women & Girls’ (VAWG) values. Our practice is trauma informed and anti-oppressive, supporting individuals to access relevant services, from financial to therapeutic. 
 
The team perform weekly outreach within the community. We also currently offer a drop-in service at: 

• Your Place (81 Barking Rd, London E16 4HB), every third Thursday of the month between 2-4pm - sexual health testing available. 

• CGL (327 High St, London E15 2TF), every Wednesday, between 2-5pm 

• The Women’s Hub, every Wednesday between 6-9pm (please call number below for the address)
